Schedule & Activities

Music Lineup

Local legend Jonny "the parking chair" Wiedmann will emcee the fabulous lineup:

12-1: DJs Melanie and Phil will get the festivities started

1-2: The Biscuits, the catchiest reggae-meets-ska-meets punk band in Pittsburgh is kicking off the live musical lineup

2-3: Paging Doctor Moon - bring something to lounge on, as you are going to want to soak in the soulful singer-songwriter music.

3-4: Bluesdrivers, Pittsburgh's very own eclectic blues band

Adopt-A-Tree

Three activities (all by donation) enable you to support the planting of a tree in South Side Park! You can participate in:

  • Tree planting experience: an educational experience with a volunteer where you and your group can participate in tree planting and learn about the ecological restoration project (good for all ages who like dirt)- recommended donation of $25/family or household OR whatever you can afford. Spaces are limited so sign up early!

  • Make-and-take: make your own bonsai mini landscape with a bonsai starter tree, pot, soil, and goat figurine $25 OR whatever you can afford to donate

  • Adopt-a-tree: you and your family can customize a metal tag and place it on the fence of a newly planted seedling and receive recognition in our newsletter or recognize a loved one - $25 or whatever you can afford (example 1: you have 3 kids and each want to make a tag. You can afford $25. Each of your kids can make a tag and tag a tree for one donation of $25. Example 2- you can afford a $10 donation- you make and tag a tree for $10. Example 3- you can afford a $50 donation - you make and tag a tree for $50.)

The recommended donation for adopt-a-tree activities is $25 since this represents the cost to plant a tree in South Side park, enabling the purchase of a ~2 year old seedling, fencing and irrigation materials. Seedlings are planted by volunteers.

Artisan Market

Over 30 vendors have signed up to participate in Goat Fest! Artisans include merchants of goat milk products, jewelry, clothing, art, crocheted items, candles, home decor, and more!

Working Goats

Of course you want to see goats at Goat Fest! Most of the Goat Fest activities are held at the Arlington Baseball Field, but to see the goats in all their invasive-plant-eating action, be sure to follow the South Side Park Trail east towards the Jurassic Valley Overlook. Along the way, if you like puzzles you can solve the EScape Goat game puzzles. For more information about the goats which will be at South Side Park, read about Hobo’s herd. You can also pet goats and other animals at the petting zoo, which will be located in the Arlington Baseball Field.

ESCAPE GOAT: a puzzle game for adults and kids 8+

EScape Goat Jr: supplemental puzzles for kids ages 4-8 to play

EScape Goat is a game! Pick up the EScape Goat map from the Merch table. The map contains the locations of the puzzles as well as important clues. Follow the flat South Side Park trail which connects the Goat Fest activities to the working goats (approximately 1/4 mile). Along the trail, you and your group will work together to solve goat-themed puzzles. Solve all of the puzzles and you will be able to unlock a box containing raffle tickets for exclusive prizes! This game was written EXCLUSIVELY for Goat Fest, with goat-themed puzzles!

There will also be a version of ESCape Goat called "EScape Goat JR" aimed at kids aged 4-8, which they can play alongside the older kids (adults) in the group. Donate what you can afford to play. If you can't afford to donate, you can still play for free- we just want you to have fun and enjoy the park!
